Mentioning Hue City, we think of the Perfume River and a charming but tranquil live of local people in such a romantic region in the central area of Vietnam. Thanks to its amazing piece and appealing antique landscape, Hue has become an attractive place for tourist to pass by and relax staying away from the noise of those big cities. However, it could be a little bit boring when we just stay in silence without few types of entertainment. Fortunately, with the opening of Hue walking street, the atmosphere has been broken into being much more exciting and noisy, in a good way. Today, the pedestrian walk in Hue is among tourists’ list to go when visiting there.
If Saigon has Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street standing across Bach Dang Harbor and Saigon River, then Hue walking street is also along the Perfume River, giving this site a wonderful but still charming moment to walk and enjoy the fresh air. This pedestrian street in Hue, opening each night from 5pm to 11pm, is viewed as a decent place for residential and foreign sightseers to taste delightful street food, buy eye-getting keepsakes, view some conventional craftsmanship exhibitions, or just find the nightlife of local people.
Lying on Pham Ngu Lao – Chu Van An – Vo Thi Sau connecting to Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street, Hue night street includes 122 stalls, divided into three sections: traditional handicrafts, consumer goods, and cuisine. Starting from Trang Tien Bridge, there is a large gate having the words “Pho Di Bo Nguyen Dinh Chieu”, meaning in English “Nguyen Dinh Chieu Pedestrian Street”. The two sides nearby are for parking so that local people together with foreign tourists can walk and discover the beauty and cultural feature inside. Just like its regional identity, the walking street has still kept the antique and traditional decoration and goods. If you are a foodie, you could hardly ignore those street vendors, food stalls or restaurant owners there cause the food would be much great. Looking through for the first time, it comes to our mind that it a little bit looks lite Hoi An Old Quarter, doesn’t it?
It would be a great chance especially for tourists to visit and buy some souvenirs to bring home. You will see a wide range of paintings mainly about Hue and women wearing “ao dai” – a unique symbol and traditional dress of Vietnam. There, you can watch the artisan drawing or writing letters on the painting. Just tell them what you want and they will write those amazing art words on the picture for you. Besides art, food, we mention specialty, is a good gift for your friends when traveling to Vietnam as well as Hue in particular because “Sesame candy” or “Sesame candy with peanuts” are really famous and unique there. Moreover, tourists will walk through and enjoy Hue traditional food while sitting on a chair and watching a tremendous and charming view of the Perfume River.
Some nights in Hue, tourists can catch sight of some live statues whom you can come in and take some pictures with. Furthermore, it is the time for music as well. Some days, there are groups of people playing and performing songs with guitar, drum, and keyboard. Let’s join in together and have a fun time with the local people, one of the best moment you have ever had in life!
