Vietnam is so fortunate to be given such a beautiful long costal line from the North running down to the South including wonderful and charming beaches. Stopping at the romantic and tranquil Hue City, tourists can reach Thuan An Beach, considered as one of the nicest beaches in the central region of Vietnam. Along with Lang Co beach, Tam Giang lagoon, Thuan An beach is the masterpieces of Hue that visitors cannot leave its name away from their list.
Being 15km far from Hue city, Thuan An Beach is situated in Phu Vang District, near by Thuan An Mouth, where the Perfume River runs to Tam Giang Lagoon and then to the sea. To get here in about 15 minutes, start off from Vy Da Ward on the south bank of the Perfume River and go north on Pham Van Dong Road. When the road tees, take a right. The road eventually crosses an inlet over a bridge to Thuan An island. Drive through town, bear right, and here comes the signs for the beach on the left. Tourists at the first time coming will notice that plenty small boats, junks drift up and down the river in the left of the route, and on the right there are houses, temples, pagodas, rice field, and gardens successively spread out.
Tracking back to its name creation, it was in the beginning of the 19th century, when Emperor Minh Mang named the place as Thuan An, assigned to build Tran Hai frontier post for the defense of the Capital. Up to now, it has been a very enjoyable place for all tourists after a full day to visit Hue Citadel, mausoleums, pagodas, and Hue scenery. Furthermore, Thuan An is also the place, where Hue people gather to enjoy the fresh air and sea-bathing in summer time. Intensive activities of the beach lasts from April to September, while Hue temperature being fairly hot. Sometimes, tourists are very crowded, and there are not enough places for their camping. Besides sea bathing, tourists are able to visit Thai Duong Temple, where Thai Duong Goddess is very esteemed by villagers or visit the temple devoted to the whale, the sacred animal of the local people.
Thuan An Beach is only 1km long but rather well-known to those falling in love with the city of love and romance like Hue and would love to discover every corner of it. One thing attracting tourists to come and enjoy a wonderful moment here is that Thuan An has possessed the clear soft white sand together with the salty water from the beach. Spending one day in Thuan An, tourists can have a chance to experience what local people call “the face of the beach”. Starting from the moment when the sun nearly rises from the horizontal line far from the beach, Thuan An is a perfect place to view this wonderful landscape capturing those rare moments that can be hardly found somewhere else. Once the picture is full of sunlight, the surface of the beach look like an enormous silver mirror following junks and boats with local people inside to begin their day. When the day goes through, it is when visitors notice the tranquility but charming beauty of Thuan An beach.
Being not so amazing and special like other beaches in Nha Trang or other regions along the costal line of Vietnam, Thuan An Beach still appeal an amount of tourists coming to visit thanks to its romantic and peaceful atmosphere together with its landscape, simple but uniquely attractive. Visiting Hue is not just seeing some antique buildings and architecture or enjoy the local food but also viewing the peace of the beach where the Perfume River flows into.
